Feeding The Children Of Peru |
||||||||||
We recently completed a mission trip to Tacna , Peru . Tacna is known as one of the driest inhabited places in the world. With average rainfall measuring less than half an inch annually, it is nearly impossible for the people to live off the land. Therefore, poverty is extreme.
With such great need, the local Christian church has established programs to help meet some of the physical needs of the community. Many of these programs focus on reaching out to children living in the outer rim of the city where poverty is at its greatest.
We learned that it only takes 100 hundred dollars a day to feed 100 children in this community. However, the local church does not have sufficient funds to provide this great service more than once a week. Therefore, during the remainder of the week, the children will go hungry.
Having heard and seen these harsh circumstances, we feel compelled to use our abundance of wealth and resources to aid the local church in their efforts. Instead of the children only being fed once a week, we would like them to be fed every day.
Therefore, we have come up with a plan and a challenge for all those who wish to join us in this great endeavor. We are asking for 365 people to donate 100 dollars, thus making it possible for the church to provide for each day of the calendar year (Donations for more or less than 100 dollars are also accepted).
If you are interested in donating to this cause, please make your check out to Iberoamerican Ministries, and on the memo line mention “Feeding the Children of Peru Fund.” (All donations are tax deductible). Checks can be sent to: Building God's Way If you would like more information, please contact Rorry Dunbar, 425-488-4489 or email rdunbar@ryangc.com . |
