Jobsite Outreach

Pastor Steve Reinhard of Mountain Vista United Methodist Church learned about jobsite outreach when his church began their BGW construction project. “One of our people would have prayer with the construction workers before breakfast and pray for safety during the day and for God just to be guiding this project.”

As your building project progresses, members dedicate the land, the future facility and their time to the Lord. The jobsite becomes the central location for evangelism and relationship building opportunities. The unsaved members of this industry desperately need to know God and your example can direct those people to Him. This may be the only gospel display the construction community involved with your project ever experience.

“We had some ongoing relationships with a couple of the construction workers,” said Pastor Reinhard. “One of them in particular, he has gotten engaged since the time of the construction here two years ago. He asked that I perform the wedding for he and his fiancé, so I'm looking forward to doing that in the sanctuary that he helped build and that I helped build.”

On BGW jobsites, Christians are reaching out and serving the construction workers, tradesmen, supervisors and managers. Many Christian churches and schools use the Ministry of Construction to effectively display the gospel to everyone involved in their construction process—many have experienced great results.

BGW founding architect Dan Cook says, “Before I was saved, I was the architect and general contractor on a number of churches. When I came to know the Lord, I realized not one of those churches had ever shared the salvation message. They had missed so many opportunities to reach out to me and the workers on those job sites—and we all needed the Lord.”

Following are examples of jobsite ministry at Building God's Way projects nationwide.

•  Pray at the jobsite every day.
•  Pray specifically and continuously for the construction crews.
•  Share your church or school mission and vision with the workers.
•  Continually thank, praise and encourage workers daily.
•  Host free lunch for the workers once each week.
•  Ask your hospitality committee to serve coffee and donuts to the workers.
•  Invite all of the workers to an appreciation event and recognize and thank them.
•  Commit your teenagers to wash the construction workers' vehicles weekly.
•  Pay your contractor and subcontractors on time.
•  Resolve disputes BIBLICALLY.
