Northland, A Church Distributed

Northland, A Church Distributed is focused on meeting the needs of its growing and changing congregation in central Florida. Senior Pastor, Dr. Joel C. Hunter believes the church will be a launching pad for ministries all over the globe. “It will be more than a shelter from the world; it will be an incubater for new and growing Christians who will return to the world as Christ-like servants” [Together We Can, summer 2006].

With seating for 3,300 people, the new 140,000-square-foot facility houses a sanctuary nearly three times larger than the church’s current worship space. Additional features include a foyer the size of a football field, prayer rooms, 25 classrooms, a bookstore, a café, a children’s playground and an outdoor gathering space for events and theatrical performances. The design also includes enhanced communications technologies that will allow Northland to connect to current multi-site locations both within Florida as well as locations across the globe.

“God’s plan for us is that we build a facility that will connect the people who come here with God and with one another, and reconnect the church all over the world."
-Pastor Hunter

Riva Trace Baptist Church

With more than 60,000 square feet of new worship and education space, the growing Riva Trace Baptist Church is a church that opens welcoming arms to its community. The church hosts a wide variety of ministries – from the exciting Concert Outreach Ministry and Café and the emergency Homeless Shelter mission to the active Kidz Ministry to the Praizin’ Thunder Motorcycle Club – so the new building design required a good deal of flexibility.

The newly completed church is situated on the site with two extending ells, one housing the worship center and administration and the other containing plenty of education space. The building boasts a sanctuary with seating for 900 worshippers with all of the necessary supporting functions. The gymnasium acts as a fellowship hall, with a large kitchen that provides hospitality during socials and evening functions. The separate amphitheater and food court connect the ells, inviting fellowship as individuals flow through the facility. The large foyer in the worship center entryway acts as a welcome center and gives members and visitors immediate access to support resources.

Indian Creek Upper School

Indian Creek School in Crownsville, Maryland, was ready to extend its high achievement goals, building a new upper school facility for as many as 400 students. With a mission to provide an academically challenging education in a warm, supportive environment, the leadership at Indian Creek School understood that architectural excellence was required to meet this philosophy.

The selection of local brick allowed the design team to develop a traditional look, but the addition of metal and glass components brought contemporary appeal to the exterior. The two-story facility is tempered in size by the three towers on its front façade, while an engaging window design creates interest. Three full-size high school courts give plenty of daily practice room to all of the school’s teams. The stand alone auditorium seats 450 students, with a sloped floor, theater lighting and a full-size stage for quality productions by the performing arts classes. The cafeteria and corresponding outdoor patio is served by a fully functioning commercial kitchen. The 32 classrooms, two science rooms, a library and an administrative wing (15 offices) complete the facility – leaving plenty of room for future growth.

New Beginnings Christian Center of Portland, Oregon was founded by 10 original members more than 16 years ago. Sierra Bible Church

To achieve the church’s vision to reach their children and youth for Christ, Sierra Bible Church decided to build an addition to their existing campus – PromiseLand, a facility dedicated to Youth Ministry. They envision an adult Ministry Center including classrooms, offices, and a multi-purpose auditorium to be constructed during a future phase.

The large entry way provides a welcoming environment that embraces the young families, children and youth that walk in and gather there. Berean Bible Church & School

Berean Bible Church and School was badly in need of expansion for both their church and school facilities. After prayer for the vision for this expansion, they had the faith-inspired goal of not only building new facilities, but to do so free of debt. “This is a job that’s too big for us,” Steve Adams, school principal recalls thinking at the time. “It was a God-sized job.”

Today, Sunday services are held in a 530 - seat sanctuary, and the full - size gymnasium is perfect for sporting events and assemblies of more than 600 students. The building also includes upgraded office space, a nursery, kitchen, library, music room and 16 classrooms.

“One thing we’ve emphasized is we didn’t start out to build a building - we started out to glorify God through the construction of the building,” said Rick Culver, construction coordinator for Berean Bible Church.
Through BGW, the architect and builder came alongside the church, jointly reaching Berean’s vision for facility expansion. The cost efficiencies of the BGW process also gave the church the significant savings needed to build 100% debt-free.

Grace Baptist Church

Following God’s leading to a new neighborhood, Grace Baptist Church designed this church facility for community outreach. And that outreach began on the construction site through the Ministry of Construction. Since the dedication, GBC has welcomed visitors and new members and expanded its ministry programs. The Crossroads Café and full size gymnasium make the facility perfect for community events.

The 36,500 square feet of space encapsulates a 623 seat sanctuary, 16 classrooms, fellowship hall, Jr. High basketball court, library, reception area, conference room and six staff offices. The church placed particular emphasis on the design of seating, lighting, acoustics and audio/visual during the planning for its worship area. The contemporary worship atmosphere is enhanced by modest incandescent lights and ceiling clouds and complimented by traditional hardwood pews.
