With the first service in their building on April 12, 2009 – this is a church body rejoicing in the Lord’s provision. The perseverance of Rejoice Lutheran Church and their faith saw them through two years of building project challenges.
Back in 2007, the church owned a very prominent piece of property on Main Street, but were meeting in an elementary school. They wanted to develop the land and build a small multi-use/sanctuary building. BGW architect Jeff Forrest created an initial design concept and began the preliminary budget. He quickly discovered the church would spend over 25% of their funding capacity just in developing the land – before building even one square foot of worship space.
The design team then made the difficult recommendation to sell the property and find a property better suited to Rejoice’s needs. God provided the current site, which is ideally located at the corner of two major thoroughfares, adjacent to a new middle school and high school, and in an area of aggressive residential construction. With utilities readily available, development costs were much more reasonable and design began on the new worship center.
The site was master planned for four phases of growth. This will take Rejoice from their current sanctuary capacity of approximately 200 to an ultimate capacity of over 750 worshippers. The efficient facility meets the needs of this small but mighty community of believers very well. We're excited about the future of Rejoice Lutheran Church and can't wait to see what God has in store for them.
