Korean American Church of the Phillip (MD), construction moving quickly

Although the project was originally slowed down by the rainy spring weather, Korean American Church of the Phillipi will be weathertight by the end of July. The construction crews at the jobsite in Columbia, Maryland are working on the roof of the 47,000 SF church, which will house 800 worshippers at the completion of phase 1 construction.

BGW Builder Hammen Contracting has erected all the structural steel framing, and they’re 50% complete with the exterior wall panel system. These Koreteck panels, provided through BGW Supply, saved 2-3 months of work compared to stud wall construction and offer great insulation qualities to keep operating costs low. They also allow flexibility for expansion that was incorporated early by architect Dan Cook and designer Rolland Lee. The church’s phased approach calls for a 20,000 SF addition that will expand sanctuary seating to 1260 worshippers within the next two years.
